Investigation 2/21/2026

The Olde Country Store

North Cohocton, NY

Overall Summary:

Our team conducts a multi-session investigation in a room known for its unusual energetic properties, including reports of euphoria and lost time. The session spans initial equipment setup and troubleshooting, personal discussions on metaphysics and dreams, and direct communication attempts using a “Wonder Box” spirit box. The investigation culminates in an experimental communication technique involving an old-fashioned telephone and a cell phone, aiming to bridge frequencies for clearer spirit interaction.

Theories

A significant portion of this session is dedicated to discussing the room’s unique atmosphere. The team recalls past experiences of sudden euphoria, giggling fits, and significant time loss where members would lose track of each other despite being in the same room. They explore several theories to explain these phenomena: Gas Leak Theory: Initially suspected but ruled out, attributed to the sudden onset of symptoms.Changing Room Theory: The room may have served as a dressing area for performers, retaining the high energy of anticipation and adrenaline from past shows.

Portal Theory: The team speculates the room might house a portal, a theory bolstered by a previous communication with a spirit (possibly a builder from 100 years ago) who appeared to be dreaming of the building’s future construction.

New Experiment

In the final phase of the night, the team decides to try a novel, experimental method to bypass the communication difficulties they faced earlier . Hypothesizing that spirits might recognize older technology better than modern equipment, or that a different audio frequency might be more effective, they devise a new setup. The Setup: They place a modern cell phone on speakerphone next to an antique rotary telephone and a voice recorder .

The Method: The team retreats to a different room (upstairs) and calls the cell phone left in the investigation area (downstairs). They then ask questions through the phone line, hoping the spirits will interact with the “familiar” object (the old phone) or the audio frequency of the call.

The Experiment: They ask questions like “Is there anybody there?” , “Can you hear my voice?” , “Do you sell coal?” , and “Can I speak to Charles?” (referencing a past spirit contact, Charles Briglin). Results: While asking questions, they hear static changes and potential noises on the line. At one point, a sound resembling “cheese” is heard after asking about ordering “store cheese, ” a specific historical reference to the building’s past as a general store.

The session concludes with the team retrieving their equipment, acknowledging that while they didn’t get immediate, crystal-clear answers, the experimental method yielded enough interesting noise anomalies to warrant further review of the recordings.
